Lubes and Lotions

When it comes to choosing a lubricant, the choice can be rather overwhelming. At Tickled we’ve got a comprehensive understanding of which lube is best for which sex act – while simultaneously understanding that everyone is different and one lotion does not suit all.

However, there are a few general guidelines to consider when choosing the right lubricant for you.

If you’re after a good all-rounder, you can’t go far wrong with water-based. It’s compatible with all sex toys and suitable for most sex acts, from masturbation (solo and mutual) to vaginal sex and even oral, if you choose a flavoured variety. While water-based lubricant can dry out more rapidly than oil or water-based lubricant, it’s easily reactivated by spraying it with water, so keep a plant spray next to the bed to make your lube last longer.

If you’re looking for a more slippery lubricant, for anal sex or fisting, silicone is your best bet. It can be safely used with condoms and is long lasting. However, it should not be used with silicone sex toys as it can damage them.

If you don’t need to use condoms, oil-based lubricant serves a similar purpose to silicone but is safe to use with silicone sex toys. However, you should never use massage oil as a replacement for oil-based lubricant as the latter is specifically formulated to ensure it is safe to use on sensitive areas.

There are also lubricants specifically designed to add an extra thrill to sex, by adding a sexy tingle to proceedings.

We often have samples of new lubes available at Tickled, and all lube are available to test in store so it’s worth popping in in you’re in Brighton to find the perfect lube for you.
